Gramofon Inn - your vineyard hideaway in Dealu Mare (interview Marcel Vulpoi)

Located in the heart of Dealu Mare vineyard, Gramofon Wine winery is known both for the delicious wines it produces and the parties it organizes monthly in the vineyard, from May until the end of the year.
In 2022, the winery added the option of accommodation to its services, installing 5 cottages right among the rows of vines. The desire of guests to come visit the winery, enjoy wine and also the accommodation in the heart of the vineyard made Gramofon Wine take tourism services to the next level and last year they opened, in a building in the winery's courtyard, Gramofon Inn, an accommodation unit with 14 rooms.
Now, 1 year after opening, I spoke with Marcel Vulpoi, one of the entrepreneurs who had the vision and courage to invest in this tourism business, in addition to the wine business. Carmina Nițescu: Hi Marcel. It's the beginning of spring and I hear that you have all kinds of news at Gramofon Wine. Thank you for taking the time for this interview!
Marcel Vulpoi: Hi Carmina, thank you for the invitation to the interview. As you know, we at Gramofon Wine are young and restless when it comes to ideas.
Carmina: Last year we saw that you had several new features at Gramofon Wine: on the one hand you diversified the events you organize at the winery and on the other hand you opened Gramofon Inn, a long-awaited accommodation unit in Dealu Mare. Please tell us more about these new features.
Marcel: Last year, on the one hand, we continued the tradition of epic parties organized by Gramofon, parties where our guilty pleasures are found (wine, art, food and music) and on the other hand we inaugurated what we like to think is a unique hotel concept, namely Gramofon Inn. It is a museum hotel, painted on the outside by Kata Rudakova, a very talented Ukrainian painter, and inside we have exhibited numerous works by Romanian artists of great value. In fact, the rooms bear the names of these artists and their original works can be found inside them.
Carmina: Going back to Gramofon Inn, this is an accommodation unit created in a restored building from the winery. Please tell us what's the capacity and what its story is. I know that the interior is very similar to an art gallery and at the same time that each room has a special name.
Marcel: Indeed, at Gramofon winery, as at many other wineries in Dealu Mare, there is a “dormitory” where the workers stayed. On its structure we built Gramofon Inn, we decorated it and now the rooms bear the names of artists, such as Sorin Ilfoveanu, Ștefan Pelmus, Marcel Chirnoagă, Manuell Manastireanu and others. I apologize for not listing all 14 (because the hotel has 14 rooms). To these are added the five Tiny Houses in the vineyard which, usually, are the delight of children, being preferred by families with children.
Carmina: What services do you offer at Gramofon Inn? Can guests have breakfast or other meals? I heard that you also set up a swimming pool and a SPA area, please give us details about these as well.
Marcel: Simultaneously with the opening of the hotel, we also opened a kitchen that is available to our customers throughout the day. We have chefs employed 7 days a week, with the menu changing weekly. Only the wines remain the same. Obviously, we also asked ourselves the question of spending our free time, and that's when we built a swimming pool open from May to November and a sauna and a hot tub open all year round. This year we will soon come up with another surprise.
Carmina: With the opening of Gramofon Inn, you have practically increased the accommodation capacity, having already had 5 cottages available for accommodation for 3 years. Are these cottages still available, are they part of Gramofon Inn? Is Gramofon Inn open all year round, can we count on an escape to Dealu Mare regardless the season?
Marcel: The gate to our winery is always open. So are the doors of the hotel and the restaurant. There is no minimum number of people for a reservation, whether it is for accommodation, meals or tasting.
Carmina: Please tell us where we can make reservations for accommodation and, if so, can we also make reservations for wine tastings?
Marcel: In principle, reservations are made at the number displayed on the website and on social media platforms, but also on booking or through travel agencies and event organizers. In the 9 months of operation, I can tell you that there is a very nice mix of customers, here I am talking on the one hand about corporate customers for teambuildings, corporate meetings, etc. And on the other hand, wine lovers who organize special days, tastings or tours, and we have even had weddings or anniversary events.
