Summer Breeze rose 2021 – Caii de la Letea

"A rosé like a summer day", this was the first thought when I tasted Summer Breeze, a blend of Fetească Neagră, Pinot Noir and Syrah from the 2021 harvest that comes from Dobrogea.

Well, if it's [still] summer and the hot days are here to stay, I thought I'd talk a little about this wine, maybe it's useful for you too in these hot days of summer end and the beginning of autumn.

Summer Breeze is the new rose wine released by Caii de la Letea Winery. Released only in the 1.5 liter magnum bottle version, it is a wine very suitable to be enjoyed with friends either on a terrace or at the beach, at a family meeting at home, maybe even at a barbecue. It is a summer, fruity wine that you can enjoy both on its own and with some food.

The wine is dry, has a vibrant salmon color and the smell shows notes of very ripe strawberries. These are complemented by notes of cherries, raspberries, sweet and very ripe tangerines and yellow pears.

The taste confirms what is found in the smell, but it seems more refined to me: the aroma of strawberries is very intense, the strawberries seem very ripe, almost juicy; these aromas are complemented by those of white cherries and stony red cherries (perhaps you remember those big, very fleshy red cherries from your childhood) and some citrus notes - ripe tangerines to be exact.

The aftertaste is quite long. The wine has 13% alcohol which is not noticeable, it is dry and was enjoyed at 7 – 8 degrees Celsius, just the right temperature to serve on such a hot summer day.

The wine can be enjoyed as it is, I consider it represents the flavors of summer altogether. But it also goes very well accompanied by appetizers with several types of cheeses, salads, seafood or even a salmon-based breakfast.
