Results of Vinul.ro Excellence Awards - autumn session 2025

For 17 years, Vinul.ro has been organizing the "Vinul.ro Excellence Awards", a competition dedicated to wineries in Romania that are invited to enter their wines in the competition.

For the fifth year in a row, I had the pleasure of being part of the jury of this competition and today I come with news about the medal-winning wines.

After being divided into 2 sessions last year: one in spring (dedicated mainly to white and rosé wines) and one in autumn, the competition has maintained this format in 2025:
  • the first in April, where mainly newly released white and rose wines were evaluated
  • the second in September, where both white, rosé and red wines, as well as sparkling wines, were evaluated.
  • over 200 wines from producers located in all wine-growing regions of Romania were entered in both 2025 editions.
  • in the autumn edition, the wines were analyzed by 4 committees of professional tasters and 4 Great Gold Medals (wines that received over 95 points), 27 Gold Medals (90-94 points) and 5 Silver Medals (85-89 points) were awarded.
The evaluation of the wines was carried out blindly, the bottles being covered and arranged according to a logical tasting order so that the jurors present did not know which wines they were tasting until after the judging process was over.

The results were announced for the first time on Sunday, October 5, 2025, during the "National Day of Gastronomy and Wine in Romania".
