About VINARIUM International Wine Contest – XXII edition
Now in its XXII edition, VINARIUM International Wine Contest is the only international wine contest held constantly in Romania. It is organized by ASER Wineconsulting and the VINARIUM Association (The Wine Institute), in partnership with ADAR (Association of Authorized Tasters from Romania) under the patronage of OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine) and VINOFED (World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions). Starting 2020, FIJEV (International Federation of Wine Journalists and Writers) became a Partner.
VINARIUM is the most important international wine competition in Central and South-Eastern Europe and takes place between May 22nd - 25th 2025 in Ploiești.
The competition will have several official observers present on site, namely:

Sample Categories
According to OIV, the samples admitted to the competition are part of the following categories: still wines, sparkling wines and viticultural spirits. Judging is electronic and conducted according to the OIV Evaluation Sheet.
Over 1,500 samples from over 26 countries are expected in the competition from operators such as producers, importers, representatives of producers, the deadline for registering samples in the competition being extended until May 10th, 2025. Registrations can be made here.
This year VINARIUM has specially dedicated judging sections for:
- BIO Wines
- AMBER / ORANGE Wines
- QVEVRI / AMPHORAE Wines
- ALCOHOL-FREE Wines
- PIWI Wines
VINARIUM Jury
As in previous years, the jury composed of both foreign and Romanian jurors, the percentage of foreign jurors being higher than that of Romanians. This year the jury will have 8 commissions of 5 jurors each, and each commission will be led by a President. So far, jurors from 20 countries have announced their presence. The jury is composed of experienced specialists with high qualifications – oenologists, ADAR authorized tasters, Masters of Wine, doctors in enology, WSET licensed. Awarded Medals
The consensual score for each sample will be calculated as the arithmetic mean of all the judges’ scores, after removing the highest and lowest scores.
According to OIV Regulations, only 30% of the entered samples may receive a medal. The scores for the medals are as follows:

- Grand Gold Medal (93-100 points)
- Gold Medal (89-92.9 points)
- Silver Medal (85-88.9 points)
Special Awards:
- VINOFED will award prizes to the highest-scoring dry wines in the following categories: white, rosé, red, and sparkling wines.
- FIJEV will present special awards to the highest-scoring Romanian wines, either made from indigenous grape varieties or blends where local grapes account for at least 50%.
- IPPU Packaging & Kurz Romania Awards: will offer three exceptional prizes. Each prize includes the production of 5,000 sets of labels (front and back), crafted with skill and professionalism by the IPPU Packaging and KURZ Romania teams.
Importers' Awards
To increase the business potential of the imported wines awarded at VINARIUM, VINARIUM & vinul.ro will organize a post-competition event where Romanian importers can discover and award these wines. The Importers’ Awards will be presented.
