Cycling escape in Bulgaria: Balchik, Varna, Wineries & Black Sea (Bulgaria)

Join us for a 3-days cycling trip in Bulgaria, combining cycling with the emblematic sites of Balchik and Varna.
This is our second event with our friends and collaborators from #Veloweekend.

Level of difficulty: moderate.
Distance: approx. 130km.
Elevation gain: approx. 1400m.

Day 1. From Nikolaevka to Varna
Nikolaevka is a small village, at 4 hours driving from Bucharest. The meeting time is 11.00 a.m. Start time is set for 12.00.
Riding distance: 40km, elevation 320m
Optional: transfer from Bucharest to the village of Nikolaevka
Lunch on the way.
On the way to the Black Sea, we visit the Stoned Forest - a natural phenomenon, and the 1444 Crusade Battlefield Museum. Varna is well known wine region too and there are some attractive wine bars and cellars to go for wine tasting detour.
Accommodation in a cozy hotel in Varna, close to the beach and to the most of the city highlights.
Optional, before dinner, a winetasting in a famous wine bar.

Day 2. From Varna to Balchik
Distance 40km, elevation 450m, along costal route
We arrive early in Balchik, so we can have a lunch here, before visiting the Queem Maria palace, the botanical garden, and the historical city.
Accommodation in a chic hotel, in the resort of Balchik.

Day 3: From Balchik to Nikolaevka (and transfer to Bucharest)
Distance 53km, elevation 650m
A panoramic hilly route, along old villages,
Picnic lunch in Nikolaevka, at the end of the route.
