This summer come to Crama de Piatra for a wine tasting
More and more wineries have opened their doors in recent years to be visited right at their homes. Some offer guided tours, wine tastings, and have even opened accommodation units and restaurants to create a complete experience for those who visit them.
Crama de Piatră is no exception and for several years now it has been diversifying its services to offer its guests more complex experiences.
Located in the village of Vadu Săpat, on the border of Prahova and Buzău counties, in Dealu Mare Vineyard, Crama de Piatră awaits you with an accommodation unit with 11 rooms to which other individual cottages were added in 2024, "Stejar & Fag Houses" (we wrote about them here), a small wellness area with a hot tub and sauna (launched in winter 2024, can be accessed upon reservation), a restaurant, as well as its signature wines.
Crama de Piatră periodically organizes all kinds of parties in the vineyard and this year they added to their portfolio, in addition to the public events they organize, several types of wine tastings that are open to all those who wish to visit them any day of the week.
They have created tasting packages that include wines from several ranges and the best part is that you don't necessarily have to come to them in a group, but you can come as a couple, for example. Wine tastings can be held starting with 2 people and the other day we discussed about these wine tastings with Răzvan Zaharia, the sommelier of Crama de Piatra.

We leave below the interview he gave with the recommendation to see more information about the existing wine tasting packages directly on Crama de Piatra website.
Carmina Nițescu: Hi Răzvan, I'm glad you found time for this interview! This year you have finalized and launched several types of wine tastings that you organize at the winery. Please tell me if these are available on certain days of the week (weekend/weekdays) or for a minimum number of people.
Răzvan Zaharia: Thank you for the invitation, I'm happy to answer your questions.
We are open for tastings and/or visits to the winery daily. Visitors can make reservations by phone at 0721.403.590 or online here they can see both the price list and the wines included in each package. As tasting times we have 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Regarding the minimum number of people, we can hold starting from two people. The exception is super premium tasting packages and vertical ones where there should be a group of at least 10 people.
Carmina: Please tell me if the tasting includes culinary support or if food can be ordered during the tasting or after the tasting. You also have a restaurant, so I think that culinary support is available.
Răzvan: The tasting comes with a cheese platter to help as a culinary pairing, as well as to neutralize the taste between the wines. At the same time guests can order food before the tasting so that the dish is delivered as soon as the tasting is finished.
Carmina: When I was at the winery, I learned the story of the wines right in the cellar. Does the tasting take place in the cellar or in the restaurant?
Răzvan: Until this year the tastings were held in the cellar. Now the tastings take place in the restaurant for the comfort of the participants. But if they request that the tasting should be held in the cellars, we can offer it without any problems. We like to offer experiences to our guests!
Carmina: What makes wine tastings at Crama de Piatră different from other wine tastings?
Răzvan: We want the tasting at Crama de Piatră to be not only an experience of discovering new wines, but also of learning how to appreciate a wine, how to taste it. At the beginning of the tour I always mention "I want it to be a free discussion, where we not only have a winery visit and a wine tasting, but also an educational part. I want it to be a dialogue, not a monologue. Therefore, any question, curiosity, or concern you have, please feel free to ask me at any time".
Carmina: There are several types of wine tastings on the site: Boian Range, Aldavin Range, Special Edition Range, Super Premium and Vertical Tasting. What wine tasting do you recommend to someone who is just starting out in the world of wine?
Răzvan: I would recommend tasting the Boian range, which includes 5 wines (2 whites, 1 rose and 2 reds). This way they can see that a wine is not just about the color and the remaining sugar, but also the variety.
Carmina: Tell me more about the vertical tasting options.
Răzvan: For the vertical tasting we have included 3 wines from the premium range, Aldavin, where we have the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon single-varietals and from Boian package, 4 wines are included where we have Merlot + Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon + Fetească Neagră blends. The Fetească Neagră single-varietal entered our list at the beginning of this year as a wine labeled with the name Poama Fetei Negre. These tastings are held for groups larger than 10 people. What we want to show through this type of tasting is how the weather in a year can influence the wine, as well as how important it is to age the wine in the bottle where the aromas and tannins take on a different structure.
Carmina: Răzvan, thank you for the information and we'll see you at the next tasting.
Răzvan: Thank you too, it stays that way!
