Cycling escape in Bulgaria: Danube, Wine, Canyons and Caves (Bulgaria)

Join us for a 3-days cycling trip in Bulgaria, combining the UNESCO heritage site of Ivanovo, a labyrinth of rocky canyons, local wineries, and the mighty Danube.
Level of difficulty: moderate.

Distance: approx. 135-140km.
Elevation gain: approx. 1650-1800m.

The first night accommodation in a winery hotel on the Danube, while the second stay is in a traditional rural guest house.

Day 1. From Giurgiu to Mechka
Distance 58-64km, elevation 550-600m
Optional: transfer from Giurgiu/Ruse to the village of Shtraklevo
Sites on the way: Ruse/Giurgiu Bridge, Ivanovo Rock Church (UNESCO World Heritage). Lunch on the way.
Accommodation in a winery hotel, on the Danube shore.

Day 2. From Mechka to Petkladenci
Distance 56-62km, elevation 650-750m
Picnic lunch on the way.
Accommodation in a traditional guesthouse, in the village of Petkladenci

Day 3: From Petkladenci to Krepcha (and transfer to Ruse/Giurgiu)
Distance 36-41km, elevation 500-550m
Picnic lunch on the way
Sites on the way: Krepcha Rock Monastery found in the early 10th century.
In the evening - transfer by car to Giurgiu
Optional: additional evening in Bulgaria and cycling to Ruse/Giurgiu in the 4th day.
